Prayer and Thanksgiving for the Azkals
Our heavenly Father, creator of all things, we recognize your sovereignty over our lives. You are our God and you know what is best us.
Father we humbly submit ourselves to you knowing that we’ve sinned. We are a divided nation in sports because of our unfaithfullness, pride, disobediance and failure to listen to you and to do your will. We’ve sinned through our words, thoughts and deeds and we pray for forgiveness and restoration. As a nation we come as one before you to submit our thanksgiving and prayer.
We thank you Lord for the strength and health that we are enjoying. Without you we are nothing and all the things that we’ve done are just filt to you. All our strenght and health belongs to you. As the 2nd leg of the Azkal game draws nearer, we would like to remember the blessings and success you’ve given to the Philippine Football Team. Truly, we are humbled with what you’ve done and we know that there are bigger plans ahead for the Philippine team. We thank you for being there despite are shameful ways. We have nothing to hide and you know them.
We thank you for giving us hope and direction for football. It is a difficult journey of us knowing that basketball is the most popular sports in the country. We thank you for sustaining the Philippine Football Federation through the years and the wisdom that you gave to its leaders. We thank you for those victories and defeats. We failed so many times and yet you’ve kept our hopes and esteem high. We thank you that we didn’t succumb to a defeatist attitude…You are there and we believe that You are making wonders for us. We thank you that we’ve reach far enough to surpass the qualifying and semi-final rounds in the AFC challenge cup, Suzuki Cup as well as the round 2 for the FIFA World Cup. We thank you for the support from our sponsors, we thank you for the fans (old and new ones) We thank you for bringing the team together. We thank for the foreign-based pinoys who unselfishly contributed to the success of the team. We thank you for the OFWs who taught their children about the Philippines. We thank for you them. We know that they have commitments and anytime soon they will return to their respective clubs. Just the same we thank you Lord that they are representing the country!
We thank you for the blessing and talents you gave to the local players. We thank you for their willingness to learn in the hope that football will be developed. Thank you for the coaching staff for their sacrifice and support to the team and development football in the country. We are greatful and we thank you for everthing that you’ve done.
It is our prayer if it is your will to allow victory for the team this coming July 28 against the Kuwaiti. It is a daunting task considering that the Kuwaitis are strong and seasoned. We may not the experience to muster a victory against a stronger team but we rely on you for strength, endurance and health. It is 3-0 and our backs are against the wall. It is like next to impossible but we believe that you can make wonders and silence our critics. It is not by might nor by strenght but by your spirit. We will depend on you for our success.
Cover every Azkal player, coaching staff and fans with your blood. We prounce victory and blessing in your name. Protect them from harm against the aggressiveness of the Kuwaitis. I pray that in the event that you grant our victory we will turn your blessing into praise. If we are defeated in our effort – you’ll still be praised because we believe you have a big plan ahead. Give them Lord, focus, discipline and team work!
Jeremiah 29:11
New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
We believe in faith that what is impossible before men is possible for you!
These things we submit in thanksgiving and prayer. All glory and honor to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen
